Position title

Provide primary eye care for outpatients: Responsible for testing vision sharpness, prescribes corrective lenses, and is an expert in handling equipment that is used to examine the eyes of the patient. Perform thorough routine eye examinations. Provides solutions to patients with eye disorders.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient care for patients with eye-related disorders and conditions.
  • Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation.
  • Determine each patient's visual acuity, field of vision and hand-eye coordination.
  • Diagnose and treat ocular disease
  • Identify eye health safety factors that could impact vision, such as working around chemicals or in front of a computer
  • Evaluate eye defects
  • Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
  • Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
  • Take detailed medical histories for all patients, including current and past prescription medications.
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Advise patients about proper eye hygiene and care.
  • Maintain accurate medical files.
  • Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice.

Observes the Health Care System’s compliance policies.

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited Optometry program
  • Active PA state Optometry license
  • Valid CPR license



  • Two years of optometrist experience required
  • Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • General computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability
