Clinical Assistant
Description

The Clinical Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of duties working collaboratively with the MAs and providers. The clinical assistant is involved in the clerical duties  of the practice in order to deliver optimal patient care services.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Keep inventory of medical, office and lab supplies and do monthly orders
  • Quality control of all lab and office equipment
  • Organize treatment closet and supply closet
  • Working with MAs to keep patient rooms stocked
  • Completing referrals electronically and/or paper via Navinet or other source as directed by provider
  • Document completed screenings into electronic health record during office visits
  • Send letters to patients as directed by provider
  • Promote compliance with documentation requirements
  • Maintain electronic skills
  • Complete pre-visit planning 24-48 hours in advance of office visits
  • Retrieve documents needed for patient visits (e.g. ER and hospital records, lab results, )
  • Complete checkout process for patients
  • Scan documents collected during office visits to medical records department
  • Perform tracking of outstanding orders
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Perform tasks as delegated by Provider in a timely manner

Practice Established Quality Control Guidelines / Policies:

  • Maintains knowledge of all CHDC policies and procedures
  • Clean exam rooms/procedure room between patient visits
  • Clean instruments/autoclave/sanitizing equipment
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Provides informational literature

Professional Self-Development:

  • Complete all mandatory trainings
  • Participate in office meetings
  • Assume responsibility for learning and growth related to employment

Education
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer experience required, EMR preferred, NextGen Preferred
  • CPR certification required
Experience
  • One to two years physician office experience preferred

  • This position requires compliance with Health Center’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures (“Written Standards”). Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the employee’s regular performance evaluation.
